THE 2007-2008 SEASON:
Our theme for this season has been American music, in celebration of the
2008 election campaign. Our Spring concerts will continue this theme,
and we have titled it "American Poets: Prose and Praise".
Many of the pieces in the program are musical arrangements of works by
beloved American poets such as Robert Frost and Walt Whitman. Composers
include Randall Thompson and Aaron Copland. A major component of
the concerts will consist of African-American spirituals - lively, thrilling,
and guaranteed to have you "rocking".
The concerts will be held on May 16th and May 17th at 7:00 PM in the
St. John the Evangelist Church on S. Main St. in Concord, NH. And stay tuned
for a possible announcement of another "Encore" concert! Click on Directions
for directions to St. John the Evangelist Church.
The concerts that were performed on January 19 and January 20
included works such as Aaron Copland's Promise of Living, an
arrangement by King's Singer Bob Chilcott of Simple Gifts and Ringwald's
arrangement of This is My Country. In addition we performed a new Requiem,
composed by our Director, Scott Lounsbury, called The Last Full Measure of
Devotion, dedicated to all those who have served their country, and especially
the men from New Hampshire who have died in Iraq and Afghanistan.
