About Us - Our History
The Suncook Valley Chorale was organized in Pittsfield, NH in 1982 as part of that town’s bicentenniel celebration, and we’ve been thriving in the almost 27 years since. Our membership has grown to about 75; we are now based in Concord, NH and draw singers from a large number of surrounding cities and towns.
We have always been a non-auditioned chorus, but continue to grow in the depth of musical ability and the breadth of our repertoire. Our membership ranges in age from the teens to the 80’s.

Ever since high school, Scott Lounsbury has been an active participant in the world of choral music. His first job was as a music teacher for Gilford Middle High School. While there, he discovered the joy of working with adult, amateur choral groups, and he has been an active leader of such community ventures ever since. He has been a church choir director (including a year in Concord at St. John the Evangelist Church), a summer band leader, and a community theater director. Scott is currently a chorus and music teacher for the Belmont Middle and High Schools. He gets great satisfaction that over the years, several of his students and past-students have joined him here in the chorale. Living with his wife and son, Matthew, in Wolfeboro since 1992, he is very active in that communitys musical life, including various roles within the Great Waters Music Festival and directing an a cappella ensemble, Some Friends, where he, his wife Rosemary and 13 friends create beautiful harmonic sounds for the enjoyment of the audience. He is a busy member of his home parish, St. Katharine Drexel, in Alton, where he participates in everything from the music program to religious education. His creative outlets include composing, and writing poetry, at times combining the two, for the benefit of his choruses. An enthusiastic director, he lists as his greatest passions to be family, community, God and creating music that brings those three together. He takes great pride in assisting amateur singers to dig deeply enough to sound their absolute best, and he has been helping the Suncook Valley Chorale Sing for Joy since 2001.

Connie has been our accompanist for 21 of our 26 years; although her first career was in nursing, she certainly has the skills of a professional accompanist. Her range is remarkable, and she can always be depended on to perform to the highest standards. We feel fortunate to have her.
She has played organ and piano for many area churches through the years. She has accompanied numerous vocalists, instrumentalists and local variety show. She lives in Concord with her husband Phil – a loyal fan of the SVC.
